In a recent trip, I bought a bigger dish drain because I prefer to keep all my dishes together in one place and prefer to keep it off the counters... The bigger one ALSO nicely fits into the half sink... so it works very well with me and NO, I don't think I can do without

I don't use a
drainer for my
dishes, but I think a few
dishes set out to dry on a dishcloth looks so tidy to me.
I think a
drainer is definitely the way to go if you do all your
dishes by hand, though!
:) If I only have a towel /
drainer of
dishes then I let them air dry before putting them away.
I don't have a dishwasher, so when I do
dishes I lay a towel out on the counter and put the glasses and similar
dishes on the towel, and stack the
drainer as high as I can.
We wash and stack the
dishes in the
drainer after every meal.
Like the others, if I have too many
dishes to fit in it, I lay the rest (usually the bigger stuff, pots and pans) upside down to dry on towels next to the
drainer.
Now if I have many
dishes, whatever fits in the
drainer will be placed there, whatever doesn't fit is layed on kitchen cloth towels that have been placed on the kitchen table.
