Over the course of the two - week Challenge, MetLife employees collectively saved over 7,600 pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, conserved over 38,000 pounds of water, converted over 39,000 minutes of indoor time to time spent outdoors in nature, and diverted nearly 4,000
disposable cups from the landfill.
During the two - week challenge, more than 3,200 employees around the globe saved more than 109,300 gallons of water, equivalent to five swimming pools; eliminated more than 10,769
disposable cups from landfills; avoided nearly 400 pounds of food waste from entering the landfills; and replaced 1,245 bulbs, saving over $ 17,000 in energy costs.
The 4,500 EcoChallengers collectively saved 17,134 pounds of CO2 and 152,745 gallons of water, and diverted over 14,000
disposable cups from the landfill!
During the EcoChallenge, the Hennebery Eddy team saved 3,076 gallons of water, enjoyed 67 meatless meals, and diverted 32 pounds of food waste and 61
disposable cups from entering the landfill.
In two short weeks we saved over 45,000 plastic bottles and over 19,000
disposable cups from going to the landfill.
Collectively, Campus EcoChallengers diverted 5,842 plastic bottles and over 2,500
disposable cups from landfills this semester.
Once used,
disposable cups from the food hall and offices at the department store will be «tipped, flipped and stacked» — a process to ensure any remaining liquid is drained and the lid, sleeve and cup are separated.

from a local bakery or making it yourself instead of buying in plastic, switching to a menstrual
cup or washable cloth pads instead of
disposable, there's so many different ways to produce less waste.

I would agree with the previous post, that one of the best switches I have made is
from main stream
disposable feminine hygiene products to the re-usable Lunette menstrual
cup and Lunette cloth pads.
I promise, this is not a «hippie thing» and all women should at least consider making the switch
from disposable tampons and pads to reusable menstrual
cups.
From old buttons and scraps to pop tops and

(I've noticed that some of the corn - based «biodegradable» products I've been given —
from disposable cups to pens — sadly, don't mention anything of the sort.
With over 260 participants, Mount Hood Community College was one of the most active campuses participating, diverting over 1,800
disposable cups and over 2,400 plastic bottles
from the landfill, saving over 1,000 pounds of CO2
from entering the atmosphere, and conserving over 17,000 gallons of water!
Biodegradable corn plastic
cups and seed paper sleeves were available and the campaign's signage was read by all waiting in line, stating: Switching
from a
disposable to a reusable mug can save 9 million trees a year, 5.7 billion gallons of water and eliminate 363 million pounds of solid waste
from landfill.
To keep myself
from going through approximately 1,000,000
disposable cups a year, I invested in a 12 oz.
Once that ban takes effect, many items that are currently handed out for free will no longer be available,
from plastic grocery bags and
disposable beverage
cups to takeout food containers and plastic straws.
