New York, NY — StudentsFirstNY today issued a brief analysis comparing the difference in
teacher effectiveness between New York City's high poverty and low poverty
districts following the State Education Department's recent release of
teacher evaluation data.

evaluation system or design their own, but all schools must include student growth
data — think test scores — as part of a
teacher's rating.
Deasy «is free to express his opinions, but any attempt to require principals to assign a specific weight to student test
data in a
teacher's
evaluation is a violation of the protections in an agreement between UTLA and the
