Speaking of pals, previous scene stealers Eddie Murphy and, especially, Antonio Banderas are given nothing new to
do as sidekicks Donkey and Puss in Boots.

Silver lining: Ex Machina's Alicia Vikander, whose plucky German car mechanic Gaby Teller joins Furiosa and Ilsa Faust, if to a lesser degree,
as heroines in action franchises this year who don't exist simply to operate
as eye - candy
sidekicks to their male co-stars.
There's even Sauncho Smilax (a bracing Benicio Del Toro) to play Panza to Doc's Private D.Q. (Del Toro doesn't figure
as much in the film, but in the book his resemblance to another
sidekick he played in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is quite pronounced).
Kate Beckinsale
does her best, and certainly achieves more
as the
sidekick than she
did as the lead in the awful Underworld; Richard Roxburgh is very over the top in a boring kinda way; and David Wenham is the only person that manages to make the most out of the very limited script they had.
Joining them in their endeavor is Chris Hemsworth, whose role
as a moronic
sidekick is an insult to everything he has
done in the past.
Todd is being described
as being a «compassionate, sweet, smarter - than - average man with biting wit» who definitely doesn't consider himself just a
sidekick to Gently but rather thinks that he is «just flat out better than Dirk at a lot of things.»
Hopefully you won't miss the doctor's
sidekick as she doesn't play much of a role.

Leelee Sobieski and Claire Forlani suck for sure, but at least they're easy on the eyes... Ron Pearlman is wasted in the nothing role of a
sidekick who buys it halfway through, but he
does what he can with what little he's got to work with... On paper, the idea of Burt Reynolds
as the King is priceless, but he's not hilariously bad, he just looks bored and vaguely annoyed throughout...
The supporting cast
do well to play normal opposite his hilariously inappropriate behaviour — Jamie Bell and Imogen Poots are great
as his smart
sidekick and a supportive female officer, while Eddie Marsan gives a wonderful against - type performance
as Bruce's spineless friend, whom he drugs into dancing with fairy lights in Amsterdam.
French's shtick is strictly to get laughs at his inane behavior, which might be fine for a jovial
sidekick, but
as the man every woman can only dream about, the suit just doesn't fit, no matter how many times his would - be wife changes it.
Doing his best impression of a classic character actor in the Gabby Hayes mold, a scraggly - bearded Bill Pullman stars
as the title character, a lifelong Old West
sidekick who finds himself on his own after his legendary compadre (Peter Fonda) is killed by cattle rustlers.
I first saw Mark L. Lester's Commando
as a young boy and even then I was rather surprised that Arnold Schwarzenegger's eponymous hero, John Matrix, didn't get together with his reluctant
sidekick, Cindy (Rae Dawn Chong).
The con's good and beautifully handled — it's a shame Edmund Lowe doesn't have more scenes, but Frank McHugh's great
as Powell's
sidekick — but it confuses the film's effectiveness.

as a stoic yet dryly funny bad - ass hero; Marci Miller
as his plucky
sidekick (of sorts); Folake Olowofoyeku
as a maniacal rock star who mows down on her owns fans; Anessa Ramsey
as an insane evangelist who
does the same to her own flock; Burt Grinstead (wonderfully manic)
as a genetically enhanced, sexually confused, super-muscular man - child; and veteran character actor Yancy Butler
as the furious leader of several ill - fated race protesters.
It's nice that Tonto isn't relegated to obvious
sidekick status
as he was in the 1950s TV series, but he might
as well be since he is given nothing interesting to
do.
The supporting performers all
do nice work - particularly memorable are an aloof Cheri Oteri
as the town's mayor, Dabney Coleman
as the police chief, Michael G. Hagerty (of TV's «Friends»)
as a henchman, and Andy Dick
as Claw's loony
sidekick.
Sebastian Stan, who plays Captain America's
sidekick - turned - adversary Bucky, spoke to We Got This Covered and gave his thoughts on whether or not he wants to see his character take up the patriotic mantle,
