Not only does the Gallery 2 program broaden the audience's basis of visual reference and education — as it is important to explore the relationship of contemporary practice and historical lineage — but it also affords the gallery the opportunity to work and build relationships with artists who are represented by other galleries, artists whose trajectories hold a different primary focus than the gallery, as well as young artists.

Project space that gravitates toward visual and performing art that does not suppress emotional intensity and we encourage more contemporary artists to embrace the personal as political.

It is a given in contemporary visual culture that photography and our relationship to it exist in a constant state of flux, and so I was drawn to work that, in one way or another, addresses how the medium does and does not function, right now.

One of the things artists have to do today is to keep up with contemporary visual imagery.

These works do not so much deny as lament the impossibility of abstract «history painting» - contemporary painting's incapacity to evolve visual idioms suited to its historical moment.

Our Mission is to strengthen and develop the contemporary visual arts sector in England through collegiate working defined locally and nationally, using the network as a platform to do so.

The Arts Writers Program recognizes that, increasingly, writing doesn't always have to be disseminated through books, magazines or even the Internet, so they also support projects that make use of technology to explore the process of writing and reading texts on contemporary visual art.

How did you come together and decide upon the concept of curating contemporary visual art that interacts with other creative areas?

How does visual art, from Surrealism to the present day, deal with love and what can these artistic representations tell us about what love means in our contemporary culture?

And what did his works mean for contemporary photography, art, fashion, and visual aesthetics?

AN: I would have to single out each exhibition to do this question justice but let me just give an excellent example with Samuel Fosso's The Black Pope, in which the relentless catholic veneration of whiteness in contemporary visual culture is resurrected in a restive, darker protesting Samuel Fosso as the Pope.

How do you feel about the frequent discussions within contemporary visual arts practice around the validity of painting; as a painter, what's your take on it?
