do crafts every day, so I have to find easy and economical ways to allow her to explore her creativity.
And now I want to
do a Craft Day!
Let's not pretend that I sit around in my perfectly clean house and
do crafts all day.

day (and if you can't drink the alcohol you're cooking with, where's the fun in that?)
No, it was a special
day because of the
crafts we'd
do at home.

This was a turning point in my life, and although a difficult decision, I left my work again, to risk, and to start a magazine that filled the need of mothers like me, who love

day's work and read, and create, within a community they belong to.

Our favorite family tradition is either the Saturday or Sunday the week before Christmas, we pull back, turn off all electronics other than tv, stay in our pjs from sunup till bedtime, and spend a family

day until bed and baking cookies and

I always try to look on the bright side, and within our blog in particular, I tend to show the shiny, positive things — lovely
days out and holidays with the kids, us
doing crafts together etc..
What are some of your favourite Valentine's
Day activities or
crafts to
do with your little ones?
My approach in the early
days would be
do craft with them separately (i.e. when one was napping and then the other at nursery) or I would
do the same
craft but would let the little one sit there and basically get covered in paint, whilst I focussed on the older one.
There are plenty of things on the crafty to -
do list these
days that are full of «purpose» - quilts for my little ones» beds, Etsy shop updates, holiday
craft planning, a gallery show to prepare for, and writing projects (book 2 is officially in the works, my friends).
This is just about realizing that not all first - graders have moms, so it doesn't necessarily make sense for them to use class time to make
craft projects for Mother's
Day.
But, as we schedule our brunches and make our Mother's
Day gifts and
crafts, let's remember that «motherhood» doesn't just cover moms of human babies — it includes moms of furbabies, too!
