You can also have people
do guest posts on your site, and do the same on their sites, filling your articles with keywords that will ultimately direct back to your website.

As far as links are concerned, having somebody put you up on their blogroll or
doing a guest post on a site is of much greater value than blog comments which are nofollow links (don't pass much link juice).

do on your
site and through
guest posts increase your traffic and ad revenue, wouldn't that be a form of passive income?
What I'm taking home from all of this is, if you plan
on guest blogging, be sure to only
do it
on a
site that is owned by someone you know very well; and
on a
site that
does not engage in any form of spammy
posting; and one that
does not accept money for
guest posts; and one that only contains no - follow linking.
Guest blogging can
do wonders for your blog, providing you place your
posts on the right
sites.
But in early days of your blog your traffic and regular readers may not be enough to
do justice to your content.That's when
guest posting on authority
sites help.
It's important to be selective about which
sites you
post on (and you certainly don't have to accept
guest posts on your own blog if you don't want to).

You're trying to get LOTS of links from high PR websites — another way to
do this is to comment
on them, or
guest post articles and have a link back to your
site in the byline.
