does not fit all.
The success of

done.

There is a time and a place for formal
training, but tapping your existing resources can, with some guidance from an engaged, responsive
leadership, be an efficient way to
do more, with less.

These included redesigning programs to align with NCATE's ambitious accreditation standards and closing programs that
did not meet the standards; upgrading administrator licensing requirements for pre-service, induction, and ongoing learning; coordinating all in - service professional development for school administrators through a state - level
leadership institute; and creating an innovative year - long, fully funded sabbatical program to
train teachers for the principalship in programs that offer a full - year internship.
We are taking a
leadership role in this initiative because we consistently hear from our members across the Commonwealth who are increasingly concerned that our schools
do not have adequate time,
training, support, and resources to develop students» social - emotional skills.

training programs - enough to enable independent researchers to gather meaningful evidence on whether and how better
leadership can transform the academic fortunes of children.
Studies have also found that principals who received rigorous
leadership training programs and support experienced larger gains in student achievement than principals who
did not participate in the programs.
When you add in the other educational supports of ESEA — material resources, additional applicable services, proven practices, teacher and counselor development, and
training to develop responsive state
leadership — you
do improve the quality of education for all but it begins with addressing a known disadvantage, poverty.
If the point of teacher
leadership is to improve teaching and learning, thrusting teachers into
leadership roles without adequate
training does a double disservice.
