In pure celebration of not having school today due to icy conditions, I thought I'd share my favorite things to
do on a snow day!
If school closures will be necessary the following day, leaders say they will announce the closure to the public no later than 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, in much the same way
they do on snow days.

I've been snowbound since Sunday evening, stuck at home with kids who resent the fact that there are no
snow days in homeschool, a wife who wonders why I don't have a job in south Florida (but only
on cold winter
days), and two animals (a neurotic dog who keeps asking to go out and then to come in, and a kitten that is constantly hunting my various appendages).
Ugh I know what
snow on the first
day of spring feels like... I'm lucky we didn't get
snow this year!
On snow days my mother who worked at Fantini Bakery in Haverhill, Mass would bring me in with her and I remember that there was a spot where the loaves that didn't come out just right went.

do on my art room desk at school.
Did I mention that we got a foot and a half of
snow on Mother's
Day?!?! And I am all about picnics and the backyard barbeque spread: burgers, potato salad, watermelon, corn
on the cob, baked beans, and chips!!
The meatballs
do make this soup a bit more labor intensive, so if it's not a
snow day and you're in a rush to get dinner
on the table, feel free to just throw in a can of red beans or some extra veggies.
Playing in the
snow is always fun but there are tons of great activities your family can
do indoors
on a snowy
day too.
Thankfully, it didn't start until the
day after I had my
snow tires put
on.

days, and I typically don't get lazy in the winter except
on serious
snow days.
I woke up easier than usual
on Day Three and got right to work; it was
snowing outside, and I therefore didn't have to go into the office.
Don't be fooled, I took these photos a few weeks back
on the last truly warm
day... now it is
snowing outside!
I remembered my first time seeing
snow, coming from tropical country we don't have 4 seasons and the first time I saw
snow falling
on Christmas
Day was really amazing!
It may have had something to
do with the
snow dumped
on us and the fact that school and activities were pretty much cancelled every
day.
While here in California we don't get
snow and we don't have much rain either, I find my rain boots very useful
on rainy
days and in the garden.
Well it actually
snowed here in CT
on the first
day of Spring... But that didn't stop me from pulling out my summer dress: — RRB - Here I have layered a short sleeve dress over a long sleeve dress to stay warm.
I am determined to make it spring outside... I am over the slushy sidewalks, constant fear of
snow screwing up my commute and the fact that it makes me sleepier than usual (case in point I am practically falling asleep while writing this... in case you didn't know, I write my posts the night before they are published... 9/10 times I am wrapped in a towel with wet hair laying
on my bed having the constant battle in my head of whether to write the post or pass out... clearly we see what won... writing the post haha) I LOVE color year round, so it's no surprise that for one of the freezing
days at NYFW I decided to wear shades of white, blue and black (all I am missing is gold and it could potentially be #The Dress... seriously didn't understand that whole craze for all of 24 hours haha) Anyways... Back to what I am wearing and how it can transition perfectly into the spring.
Based
on the one time I got to stomp around in some
day - old bargain bin
snow, this polish really
does remind me of
snow.
This post-blizzard
day was in the 50's so these pictures were taken while I prayed that a giant hunk of
snow didn't fall (from my house or trees)
on to me or my camera during my little photoshoot.
And looking at the weather, with
snow descending here in the UK for our last few
days of February, this skirt truly
does work just as well for this cold, white blanket
on the horizon as it would
on a brighter, more spring - like
day.
Tomorrow is exactly one week from my 31st birthday AKA the first full
day of spring AKA no - jacket weather... but it was
snowing yesterday so I don't know what the heck is going
on.
I also love to work
on some of my creative projects
on snow days, but when it is SO crazy cold that all you want to
do is cover up and try to stay warm, a good movie is the perfect pick for me!
They were a totally steal, and I'm planning to pack them to work
on days where I need to wear my not - so - cute
snow boots to work so I don't freeze my toes off — which is a pretty real concern when commuting in Chicago winter weather.
And that's exactly how I felt
on the
Snow Day, it was the perfect excuse to
do nothing and I loved it.
Now, I
did get some things
done, because you all know me I am always changing and tinkering with some kind of DIY projects, but all in all it was a nice relaxing weekend & we are actually
on snow day # 4 today!
I am counting down the
days until the spring really arrives here as it's supposed to
snow this week But the
snow doesn't prevent me neither from planning my wardrobe for warmer
days, nor from splurging
on a beautiful bright blazer (or two Yours looks absolutely perfect, in fact your entire outfit is perfect, and I'm only a tiny bit obsessed with your bag!
And
on days like today, when it's
snowing, you certainly don't leave the house looking at cute as you
do when you get to the office and strip off the layers and change out of your
snow boots.

on student test scores.

days with heavy
