Unfortunately, very little was
done other than some enlightened breeders adopted
breeding policies that excluded
dogs that were affected or thought to be carriers for the condition.
Remember that
dogs that carry this mutation also carry
other important good genes that we
do not want to lose from the
breed.
Fromm's adult large
breed formula doesn't beat out the
others on this list, really, but it's got a good, unique combination of high - quality ingredients that could be good if you and your pup just want to switch it up (or if your
dog likes a gamier taste).
Dobermans, like all
other dog breeds need to be trained to protect you or have a strong sense of bond that they will
do it on their own.

dog, join your local
breed club, find a mentor and learn ALL YOU CAN from them, get some titles on her, get all the STD and
other health testing on her (
do you really want to bring unsound, unhealthy, poor
breed standard huskies into the world?)
Mixed
bred dogs on the
other hand will fall somewhere in the middle since proper screening was poorly
done or never carried out.
This
breed does well with children and
other dogs, assuming it has been well - socialized from an early age.
Field Trials, Obedience trials, and
other working trials are generally more objective evaluations of the temperament (the behavioral genetics of the
dog), health (if the
dog's body can't take the stress of Trial work, then it's not healthy enough to be
bred), and personality of the
dog (top trainers won't campaign with a
dog that they don't like or can't handle).
Not every
dog within these pedigrees has HD, yet plenty of mixes of these and
other breeds do.
