I came across your website looking for a
plank ceiling tutorial a while back - which I still have yet to
do but you know... and I love so many things on here!
The
ceilings are a different story, and I've been thinking about wood
plank, not only because it would look nice (and update the house), but because it's not all that difficult to install (and we've
done a lot of installation of various things lol).
If you don't have wood underneath your sheetrock, you'll definitely need to drive your nails into the
ceiling joists to make sure the
planks stay up!
The last time I blogged about Kevin's brother Kerry's
ceiling we were right here... Since that day, we were able to finish installing the
planks, and Kerry
did a fantastic job of caulking the seams, and knot & nail holes... We used some Rustoleum primer and spray paint to freshen up the old light gray -LSB-...]
I really would love to
do this in my home and my question is: is it necessary to remove the popcorn
ceiling before putting up the
planks?

planked the
ceiling and
did a light white paint... I LOVE IT.
I
do not have a table saw, so I knew I wouldn't be able to cut
planks to reach exactly to the
ceiling.

did a great job of figuring out angles and cutting the
planks to fit perfectly.

I originally thought I wanted to paint the
planked ceiling in the kitchen white, but I actually was a little nervous about
doing it.
