wool coat is interlined, and is so
warm I don't even switch to down unless it's below maybe -10 or -15 C.
Take, for example, an Allbirds
wool sneaker, which can be worn without socks (a gift for us hustle and bustle millennials who don't have time between social media checks in the morning to find matching socks) or all of Uniqlo's heattech apparel that keeps us extra
warm in the winter.
If you can find ones with fur inside, that's a bonus, otherwise
wool socks
do keep your feet
warm.
If
wool socks still don't
do the trick, purchase toe
warmers.
If you don't have one, the thin merino
wool ones from Smartwool are lightweight and quite
warm.
On
warmer days, it's nice on its own, but it also pairs well with a moto jacket, trench, or (don't make me say it) a
wool coat when it's chilly.
Boots by the way are
warm but good pair of
wool socks doesn't hurt.
And no wonder: alpaca
wool is not only soft and
warm, it's naturally anti-bacterial, stain resistant, easy to clean, doesn't shrink or pill like cashmere or
wool, wicks away moisture, is lightweight and resists wrinkling.
Most importantly it is not an itchy sweater (I can not
do wool for that reason) it's just right, yet will keep you nice and
warm on a cool day.
The beanie (hell what a trend
did this become) that I actually thought I would never wear again (see here), because it's pretty tight, is just what I needed today, as well as the boxy jumper; merino
wool, crazy
warm, and comfortable.
The
wool isn't super thick though so I don't think this would keep you
warm on days below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
I
do wool long underwear under skinny ponte pants, and
wool knit skinny pants (from Ibex — not cheap, but amazing quality and very
warm).
