The designer kitchen is accented with granite
countertops and solid
wood cabinets, features you don't even find in most new construction single family homes.
Warm, glossy, and earthy,
wood countertops are decidedly beautiful, but they
do require some upkeep.
This is definitely one of the biggest projects we've ever
done - besides our faux fireplace,

countertops, kitchen cabinet painting...
I am a huge fan of navy and brass and
wood together these days — I was thinking of
doing our lower cabinets in the kitchen in navy with a quartz
countertop and brass pulls.
I just read a couple of fabulous blog posts about staining and Waterloxing your
wood countertops, and now I'm starting to think we may want to
do it to really create a super-durable surface that doesn't require any re-coating throughout the years.
We were devastated by his death and after a few months we decided we needed something to
do and I suggested to my husband that he could make a
countertop for our kitchen island out of some pieces of cherry
wood that a friend had given us.
This is the first bathroom that has inspired me, so I am totally using your amazing bathroom as my inspiration I actually already have thin birch
wood counter tops which I
did a dark stain and sealed but after almost 10 years the
countertop is
done!
Since we have light
wood cabinets and black appliances in our kitchen, I would love to
do the
countertops in Bombay black!

do the whole kitchen with

No matter what kind of
countertop I have had, I never sit anything hot on it nor
do I cut directly on it... so
wood has not required any change in that thinking.
Thus far, I haven't had one that I could remodel but if / when I
do,
wood would be high on the list of possible
countertop contenders.
I
do think I would look at changing the
countertops on the built in cabinetry to a
wood that matches the mantel.
I'm
doing this right now in my kitchen / living rooms, looking to replace old tile
countertops with
wood just like that.
I
did my kitchen in white cabinetry with white marble
countertops, but added contrast with butternut colored island with a walnut
wood top.
I didn't even consider
wood countertops, although that would have been much more budget friendly than the our black quartz.
Our guest bath is next up on our «to -
do's» and I am also going to go with a
wood countertop.
One headway we
did make was purchasing and cutting the
wood for the
countertop.
And we are planning on
doing Cherry
wood countertops like this inspiration photo (which if everything works out should look a LOT like our kitchen — if I can find some fabulous back - splash tile):
I've had it in the back of my mind for ages for if / when I ever
do my own
wood countertops, but for some reason on the DIY
countertops I am always finding online, nobody ever uses these.
