Of course, the DVD seems somewhat of an afterthought this time around, arriving as
it does alongside the film's Blu - ray debut.

Some things that probably factor into the industry's disagreement: Peter Jackson adapted books fifty years old and respected as great literature, the Potter books were being written
alongside the first movies; Lord of the Rings centered on adult characters and played to a wider audience with PG - 13 ratings, the first Potter movies were PG, skewed younger, and starred kids (though anyone can see the
films matured and so
did the fans, many already wrote the series off); finally, where Jackson provided one distinct vision and a cast of respected performers, Potter had a rotating director roster (all of them secondary to Rowling) and limited opportunities for its accomplished actors, giving the brunt of the work to the three kids and spectacle.
John Krasinski demonstrated in his first
film as a director that he has the ability to
do things well and get it right with what he wants, and
alongside Emily Blunt, his wife, he has achieved much more.
Better still: the mash - up works, and «Prey at Night» is a strong successor to the first
film (it doesn't hurt that Bertino co-wrote this one
alongside Ben Ketai) that also stands on its own merits.
The
film is dedicated to his memory, as you might expect, and while this might not rate
alongside his more prestigious work, it
does represent storytelling of a high order, with acting to match.
He
did appear first in Knocked Up, but this
film is where he not only wrote but also starred

do poor business, and a Variety reporter — knowing that the interests of artists and audiences count for little
alongside the bank accounts of industry people — recently chided Fox Searchlight Pictures for not cutting the
film to get a better rating.
Among a clutch of
films receiving their world premiere in the competition section of the festival are The Dinner, which features Gere
alongside Steve Coogan, Laura Linney and Rebecca Hall in a thriller about two married couples who meet to discuss what to
do about a crime apparently committed by their children; and political fable The Party, written and directed by Sally Potter, whose cast includes Scott Thomas, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer and Cillian Murphy.
That show is currently
filming its second season, and though we don't know anything about Chappelle's episode, it'll presumably involve him riding motorcycles
alongside Reedus while they talk about the cool bugs that got stuck in their teeth and and all the losers they saw driving cars — in other words, the stuff that all motorcycle people like to talk about.
However, we
do get to see a bit more of Jordan's Killmonger, who is set to be one of the main villains of the
film alongside Serkis» Klaue.

Working
alongside Wilson creator Clowes, Johnson has a tough time balancing the
films tonal shifts between oddball comedy, life affirming drama and romantically tinged musings and it often feels like the
film is uncomfortable in its own skin as we're taken along from scene to scene and scenarios that worked in the graphic novel don't quite come across as well in the
film treatment.
It boggles my mind that Weinstein refuses to see the unmistakable value to including trailers
alongside films, especially on a platter like this which doesn't have much else to offer.
For the most part, Baubach has aged
alongside his protagonists, making While We're Young his clearest take on the mid-life crisis age of Generation X. Much of the conflict of the
film comes from the sense that they are somewhat of a lost generation, sandwiched between the can -
do hard working Baby Boomer attitude of those who came before (Grodin's character) and the less traditionalist, blunter millennial hipster culture (Driver's character).
Getting the often nominated Kate Winslet for one of the main roles doesn't hurt either, and she's joined in the cast by Josh Brolin in one of the other main parts,
alongside Gattlin Griffith (you may remember him from Changeling) who's actually the person we'll be seeing the
film unfold through the eyes of.
@Matt St.Clair — I agree that Rebecca Hall is so underrated that when a
film like Christine comes along, she
does not quite get the recognition she deserves (although thanks to LAFCA for at least recognising her
alongside Huppert in Elle).
It attracted the notice of De Palma himself, who not only praised his efforts for helping to bring back his original vision, he deemed it to be the
film's true director's cut and lobbied to have a cleaned - up version of it appear on the Blu - ray

does make sense for a

film's visual and audial impact.
