I do that over the chalk paint?
I'm not sure how it would
do over the chalk paint but I'm going to try it on a piece I'm doing over AS graphite!

did a fabulous week long round up and review of her experience as well as the experiences of others with
chalk paint.
It wouldn't be ideal for a full piece to use
chalk paint over the wax because I would be worried about adherence, but when
doing an accent like a whitewash, the incredible adherence of
chalk paint works just fine.
I want to try this method, I've been making my own
chalk paint, and
painted my china cabinet, and used the Minwax dark wax to antique it, it's not for everyone, but the look is just what I want, old world look, not even put it has character, I am
doing my coffee table as well, I find very ornate pieces cheap and
paint a base cream
chalk paint and then go
over it with the Minwax dark, let it sit for 15 min and buff, then add another layer of wax, its so much fun, but the problem I'm having is I'm ADD and I have 5 projects going at once!
At first I started with an oil based
paint pen, but I didn't like the results of this and ended up going
over it with the
chalk paint.
I agonized for months
over exactly what to
do with the cabinets (
Chalk Paint, Alkyd
Paint, Re-staining, Gel Stain, Refacing, Waiting until my husband was out of the house then smashing them to pieces so we'd be forced to get new cabinets... etc.) and finally landed on the no - sanding, prime and
paint method.
To
do this, take a piece of
chalk length wise and color
over all the
chalk paint.

over chalk paint, several waxes then I switched to polycrylic top coats and have tried several, the best I've ever used is Polyvine Decorator's Varnish Dead Flat Finish — it
DOES NOT yellow, I just used
over two big pieces of furniture
painted in Pure White and Off White and absolutely no yellowing.
So if you can't
paint another sealent
over the wax, then how
do you remove the wax without taking the
chalk paint with it?
I
did use
chalk paint from Home Depot and found it easy to use but some areas are yellowing can I
paint over it will it still yellow thru?
I
did my guest bathroom vanity with
chalk paint just yesterday and although it covered really well
over the wood — it is quite «grainy» and rough to the touch.
So pleased to have read this article, just
painted my stair case with
chalk paint and whitewashed
over the top with
chalk paint was going to use wax as recommended by the shop who sold me the
paint,
did talk to the sales person at great length about wear and tear and not wanting to have to
do touch ups but he still highly recommended the wax.
Annie Sloan is one brand who claims their
chalk paint can be used
over their own brand of wax, and I have
done this myself with success.
The glaze I use doesn't really absorb into the
paint too much but I can see how some glazes would be really hard to control directly
over chalk paint.
Did you use the metallic top coat
over the
chalk white
paint also?
I then
did a wash
over top with Annie Sloan's French Linen
chalk paint.
When I went to sand, I got the soft finish I would get with AS
chalk paint, but there were little white flecks that showed up all
over my chairs: (After reading your post, I realized my
paint does have primer in it as well.

over the
chalk paint you should use poly.
I prefer making my
chalk paint mixed using satin, but since you will use poly
over the finish it really
does not matter what sheen of
paint you use to make the
chalk paint.
You can
paint right
over chalk paint on your chest as long as you
did not apply wax or poly
over it.

paint and go
over with a clear poly finsh which of them works the best i just want something that i
do nt have to repeat once a month or ever other year

chalk paint takes before you can mess with it, but I as able to steel wool it in just
over an hour.

chalk paint twice on lamps (Anne Sloan) a (ceader chest walamrt wavely) so can i
do this make my own

chalk paint on each side, then three coats of Polycrylic

Hi Elena, you
do have to season the
painted chalkboards, which basically means you put
chalk all
over it and wipe it all off with a chalkboard eraser before using it.
Keep in mind that
Chalk Paint ® dries 50 % faster than latex - so you must
do this as you proceed through your
painting versus waiting till you are
done getting
paint all
over an entire side.

do you like this
paint over ASCP??? I never had your success of only using craft
paint so I've used different craft store and brands of

do have one question, to repaint
over chalk paint that has been waxed, what would the preparation be?
I was thinking of using
chalk paint and buying wood stain like minwax to put
over it but I don't know if it will soak in the
paint and will I be able to move it around and leave most of it in the crevises for the antique look

chalk paint and distressing in my preferred areas for the wax to adhere best?

It is what
chalk paint is best at
doing, but you can
paint over any surface successfully with latex and a gripping or stain blocking primer.

done it, but on the Annie Sloan
Chalk Paint site, it mentions that you can
paint right
over the wax as the
paint will stick to anything.
I had not used it
over chalk paint up until I
