There is no denying that the various styles of
prayer, adoration,
meditation, contemplation, thanksgiving
and supplication are all spoken about, but because the speakers talk about
prayer in a familiar way they
do not really cover specific types of
prayer.
Although
prayer may —
and usually
does — involve words,
meditation, emotion,
and action, it is no one of these by itself.
As a result, I believe the modern day Church needs to be told to hear a pointed message —

My failure to realize what was happening to my mind sooner, has to
do with the fact that Christians are told that they must draw close to God in

and scientific literature)-- about the adverse psychological effects which can arise when persons engage in intense / deep spiritual practices such as intense / deep
prayer, fasting
and meditation which alter their state of consciousness.
Psychosis / most psychiatric illnesses often arise in adolescence or in early adult life however 75 per cent of children with mental health disorders / issues
do not get the help they need — I fell into that 75 per cent, I was misdiagnosed by a doctor
and then the self - induced trance - like altered state of consciousness induced by intense / deep
meditation and prayer coupled with the theology about how
prayer and God work in a Christian's life (more on this below) just pushed me right over the edge.
The work
done by psychologists / mental health practitioners / neuroscientists indicate that intense / deep
prayer and meditation trigger different responses in people as per the various references which I provided in my previous comments.
I have had to be
doing a lot of self - therapy to rescue my brain from the adverse psychological experiences which I have had as a result of intense
prayer and meditation.
Based on your comments above regarding the Buddhists monks, it is clear / obvious that if I didn't experience adverse effects when engaging in intense / deep
prayer and meditation but instead experienced oneness
and tranquility just like the Buddhist monks then for sure, you wouldn't accuse me of being an unorthodox enthusiast engaging in self - manufactured religion.

doing what I'm
doing in either my career, or in speaking out on political matters, if I wasn't led there through
prayers and meditation.
The programs taught me about (1) admitting I was beat, (2) coming to believe in something greater than myself (eventually a higher power)(many evolutions
and concepts of HP, all of these at one time or another: nature, the 12 steps, creator, Love, spiritual principles)(Step 3) applying my low self worth
and gigantic Ego to these spiritual principles (4) write down my liabilities
and assets (5) share them with another
and my higher power (6 & 7) ask for the liabilites to be removed
and be patient with the process (8) Make a list of all that were harmed by me (9) make amends to such folks except whn to
do so would injure them or myself (10) take a daily inventory of my day, checking for snafus, mean temperment, arrogance etc (11)

and quiet reflection to listen for the Truth (12) after having a spiritual awakening as a result of working these steps, help others if they wish for help because now I am in the position to assist.
Prayer is only a form of
meditation, your g - d
does not
do anything, you
do and the power comes from you, not an outside source.

do not look with scorn on the person who feels that his or her
meditations and prayers can have a positive effect on the world as a whole.
Being quiet
and still
and focusing on a question, might help us come to a decision, or give us the spiritual strength to go out
and do what we need to
do, but that was
meditation to me, not

do so through private
prayer, by participating in the liturgy,
and by spiritual reading
and meditation.
About taking the time each day to take care of me - even if it's just making time for
meditation and prayer alone,
doing my makeup or taking a shower.
Some great ways to
do this are enjoying some relaxing music, light stretching,
meditation,
prayer, gratitude journaling, diffusing some lavender essential oil,
and spending time with family.
