If you don't want to be tied to Delta and it's
partners, or if you want to earn more points towards
travel on things you buy every day, you'll want to consider a more general
travel card (ie, not one that's tied to a specific
airline or hotel chain).
When you want to book a flight

airline Chase doesn't
partner with, you can book through the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal, pay with points at a straight value of one cent per point and get a 20 percent discount off the cash value of your
travel for going through Chase.
But all 11 of Citi's
airline transfer
partners — including Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, Air France and Qatar Airways — are based overseas, so cardholders who
do most of their
traveling on domestic carriers won't benefit.
Awards booked through American
Airlines using AAdvantage Miles don't come with surcharges... but that's not the case if you plan to use the miles for
travel on a number of American's
airline partners — make sure you factor in these surcharges when working out just how good a deal an award booking is.
Note that flights
do not have to be operated by American; miles can also be used to book
travel on a wide variety of
partner airlines.
Although the Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and Chase Ink Business Cash earn Ultimate Rewards, they

Although I don't fly United very often (mostly because when I
do I deal with nasty / clueless employees or my
travel reservations simply aren't honored), I rank their frequent flyer miles as the most valuable mileage currency out there thanks to low fees
on award tickets, the ability to book one - way awards and great
airline partners in Star Alliance.

do, you will be able to transfer your points to a
partner airline or redeem them
on the Chase Ultimate Rewards
travel website with a 20 percent bonus.
That's hard to
do on a network that is mostly domestic, yet
traveling on partner airlines increases the threshold to 90,000 miles.

Airlines does not mention changes to award prices for any other region pairs, such as
travel between China and the Caribbean.
No benefits for MVP members (although not surprising since lower tier members at other
airlines often don't receive much when
traveling on alliance
partners).
Something which a lot of travelers forget is that American
Airlines has an off - peak season for award
travel on it's own planes (this doesn't apply to flights
on partners such as British Airways)-- as illustrated by this handy table buried deep inside AA.com:

Though Barclays
partners with quite a few hotel,
airline and other reward programs for co-branded cards, its Barclaycard Arrival reward program, one of the newest
on the
travel reward scene, has made a name for itself fast even though it doesn't actually have any
travel transfer
partners.

The Citibank Prestige is great if you are a frequent (business) traveler (you earn 3 points / $ spend), don't have status with an
airline you are flying (lounge access via PriorityPass) and want to redeem for for international
travel on world class
airlines (great transfer
partners like Singapore, Cathay or Virgin America)!
What many medium - to - advanced
travel hackers will
do is rack up points in the mileage currency of an
airline that they have no real intention of flying, with the idea to use them
on a
partner's flight.
In these cases, LATAM prices each leg of the flight separately, using two different systems.If you are
traveling to South America from somewhere in the U.S. that LATAM doesn't serve, you'll pay 70,000 kilometers for the LATAM leg, then an additional distance - based price
on the segments with the
partner airlines.
You
do need to earn a few extra miles when you credit miles from
partner carriers (25,000 with
partners for MVP vs. 20,000 for
travel on Alaska only), but the option to include flights with more than one
airline is a big help.
Most Customers who
did not
do a proper due diligence check
on the CSP
partners and chose the cheapest option available to them, have majorly suffered
on the services just like you suffer and later regret choosing a bad
airline for your
travel.
