brass hardware for our new custom wardrobe closet and they sure
do standout beautifully against a solid white or black furniture piece.
I had
brass hardware in my kitchen when it was first built, but after a few years, I
did not like how it tarnished.
(I easily could've picked up rubber hose and
brass fittings from a
hardware store, but I didn't feel like putting on a shirt.)
So Eli
did the manly thing and went and bought about a hundred bucks worth of tools, observed that the toilet not only didn't flush down, but also needed a complete gut replacement, went back to the
hardware store, bought a complete set of innards, stopped by the bookstore to get a book on useful expletives for when nothing works and took the damn thing apart getting the blue stuff all over himself and the floor, that book came in useful, and we learned that contrary to rumor
brass screws used in toilets
do corrode so you have to go back to the
hardware store and get WD - 40 and when that doesn't work you go back yet again and get a nut cracker (nononono, not that kind).

Although this kitchen received ample natural light, the oak cabinetry doesn't
do any justice to the white countertop and
brass hardware.
I really wanted to
do all of our
hardware (including faucets) in polished
brass for that gold look, but Anel ended up convincing me to go with polished chrome instead so it would be easier to match everything and so that it would feel current for longer.

I didn't mean to offend MelaniePenelope regarding the
brass hardware.
Not much more than a black and
brass update today, but since I'm
doing this bathroom in real - time, the light fixture and
hardware swap - out items were the ones we knocked out over the weekend and I'm absolutely in love with how they both look in the space.
I don't care for the gold /
