We
homeschool our two youngest, and have
done so since they were
in kindergarten, with the exception of two years early on at our parochial school.
I've been snowbound since Sunday evening, stuck at home with kids who resent the fact that there are no snow days

I love cooking but as a
homeschool mom of three I don't always have time to figure out the nutrition
in recipes.
Whether it be public school or
homeschool, you strike me as the type of mom who will
do what is
in her heart that is best for her children.
i know a lot of people who have regretted starting their kids
in public school because it either makes it harder for them to get used to the idea of learning from mom or because they form attachments at school and don't want to be
homeschooled.
I really loved being
homeschooled but believe that my brother would have
done better
in school.
I
do know some
homeschooling families that
homeschool one child because of whatever reasons and the others are
in school.
After all, the socializing that happens at school is often not positive, and the positive socialization that
does happen is easily accomplished
in homeschool groups and co-ops.
The things my daughter finds to
do and creates on her own with me just very loosely facilitating are now and have always been way cooler and more enriching for her than the organized things they
did in preschool (and sadly now school - school, to the extent that I would not mind
homeschooling, but that's a whole other more complicated issue...) A lot of it depends on the child and the home environment.
Well moving on is sometimes a hard matter for kids who may have grown a big group of friends, for instance 2 years ago when I had to go under a similar situation, one of my kids who as a consequence of me introducing him to a k 12
homeschool curriculum, had grow a good group of friends around the neighborhood, when time came for us to move on he
did not want to move on and let behind his friends, so we had to explain him a lot about what we were
doing and promise to bring him back so that he could keep
in contact with his friends!
In your
homeschooling journey, don't forget to learn from your child.
Here
in Oklahoma we are lucky enough to have Braums which is a dairy near my town and while I was being
homeschool we went on many field trips to the dairy and the cows are treated much better than normal dairies and they don't use hormones or antibiotics.
We just started
homeschooling this year and I don't have lots of support from family and I greatly appreciate words of wisdom from moms that have kept a realistic perspective and manage to find the joy
in motherhood.

homeschooling is trying to make the best decisions for your kids - but sometimes that can be hard, especially when you
do as well
in a routine as your child
does.
I was team mom for little league, cheer mom, pta mom, chaperoned school field trips, volunteered as a classroom helper and parent at their schools (when
in public school) attended toddler tumbling and mom classes, was a
homeschooling parent for one of my kids with leaning disabilities, I didn't have to scramble to figure out what to
do about work or where to take my kids for child care if they were sick, I led and was involved with the church groups with my kids, I spent summers with them
doing all kinds of things like traveling, visiting grandparents out of town, amusement park trips, swimming, picnics, and hiking, instead of them being stuck with a sitter every summer.
With
homeschooling, I
do leave some «homework» for the kids to
do with dad, but
in general, when we are
done with school for the day, we are just that,
done with school.
Then her oldest, Ava, went to kindergarten at a public school but Amy knew
in her heart that that wasn't what she wanted for her, but didn't feel she was
in the best place mentally and emotionally to
homeschool her at that point.
I think as
homeschooling families, one of our main goals is always the connection of the family and how we stay attached to each other
in a society that sometimes doesn't seem to value that at all.
It was a given
in my mind, like potty - training or French braiding my girls» hair...
homeschooling was just the natural thing to
do.
