But
doing it in the pouring rain and
running in the
mud definitely throws a wrench in strategy.
Some of the strollers are equipped with shock absorbers and
mud guards over the wheels so you need to
do a little bit of research and figure out what type of terrain you will be
running on.
And a memo to the stroller makers of the world: Let's
do ourselves a proper and create a stroller that has a tiny footprint; pivots easily;
runs without pushing; has rubber wheels; traverses ice, snow and
mud; carries various items; reclines and folds up no bigger than an umbrella.
When I
did the Rugged Maniac, I saw a bunch of people lose their sneakers when trying to
run through these
mud pits, so make sure you tie them tight.
I've now
done quite a few
mud runs myself and at the time of this article, the only one I have not
done is the Spartan
Run and the Tough Mudder... but they will be checked off really soon.
During your
mud run, the last thing you want to
do is burn out your lungs, so it's a good idea to get accustomed to a cold - weather breathing pattern, especially if you signed up for a winter event.

do keep a bench by the door with a deep tin bucket where I throw my kids shoes becuase kids, well that is a different story as they don't always remember to wipe and have a habit of
running in the
mud.
