dollar figure you quote is highly dependent on many factors.
Not exact matches
If one uses real rates of inflation produced by Shadowstats (versus the fantasy land
figures of low inflation
quoted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics every month for years on end), one can prove that the US
dollar has crashed.
Also note that his examples (some are
quoted below) are all very high
dollar figures.
You just need to make sure that you're looking at the right number... Also, I'd have to check but I think the futures contracts might be as
quoted on NYMEX, so that might be a US
dollar figure whereas my ETF trades in loonies.

However, there is more to comparing the
quotes than just looking at
dollar figures.
