You can't
do that with paddle shift.
After pushing «drive» any manual gear changing is
done with the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Why no other manufacturer has
done it is beyond me, for it fuses the effortless control and excitement of a
paddle -
shift gearbox
with the greater engagement of a manual.
I hit the wipers once or twice when I
did try to
paddle an upshift, but at least this car doesn't have the dumb
shift buttons that come as the stock complement to the PDK, which remind you even more insistently that you're driving a car
with an automatic transmission.
The six - speed ZF automatic transmission is
doing its bit to soothe our progress through town, sliding imperceptibly between ratios in fully auto mode, though when we hit the open road and bring the steering - wheel
paddles into play, it promises best - ever
shift speeds and,
with its locking torque converter, a new level of responsiveness.

The electric power steering doesn't give the driver a huge amount of feel, but its accurate and direct, and the eight - speed gearbox offers satisfyingly crisp changes that can be snapped into place

shift function is available, but I opted to let the transmission
do all the work for the majority of time around the «Ring.
Switching to manual mode
