The show follows members of a high school

put on the controversial musical Spring Awakening, under the tutelage of an inexperienced yet passionate teacher (Josh Radnor) who's basically stolen the
department out from under its longtime chair (Rosie Perez).
Welcome comedy relief is combined with an editorial statement on the ongoing reductions in funding for the arts, as the football coach (Bob Stephenson) is
put in charge of the
drama department.
Each subject has its different requirements; lighting in an art
departments is hugely important, while creative subjects such as
drama is best
put apart from other
departments such as Maths and English, due to the nature of the courses activities, storing equipment and outside activities which may not combine well with subjects which need quieter, more stable interiors.
