After seeing a couple of games where he featured and also the one for england he's got it all for me... 1) He has the physical
ability to offer the kind of game that our Giroud offers (back to the net: deflecting, relaying passes and 1 - 2 touches) but also 2) Pace, mobility and technical agility to offer so much more:
dribbling past opponents (creating space),
running / turning over defences either to lay down the killing pass to a better placed player or finishing a through ball from our over talented midfield and all that with speed and 3) Tactical awareness, willingness to defend players if asked (like the game Man U-Real Madrid in the CL) and could provide support not only in the air on corners!!
And am sick of the he needs game time after injury argument... He's been match ready for two months or more and should be willing and able to prove he is a first team contender... instead each time he appears it's the jogging around plus the ocassional darting
run on display again along with the demonstrated
ability not to be able to
dribble with the ball the failure to give real defensive support to full back and the persistent fragility in front of goal... Should be part of a buy one get one free package with wenger
It's also a waste of his talent too, he is only 2 players we currently have who have the
dribbling ability and the pace to
run at opposition (other player is Sanchez).
It is not that walcott is not performing its the fact that he struggles still with the simple stuff in football like controlling the ball when
running with it, passing,
dribbling, crossing and finishing (not always) and his defensive
abilities are not good.
Welbeck was like a second striker in the first half, he was always in the middle and had to
run a long distance from striker position to RB position to help out Bellerin, and Welbeck was the worst player in possession too, in the first 26 minutes he gave the ball away 4 times, I counted, his first touch and lack of
dribbling ability was the reason.
However, at 23, there is plenty to like in the Spaniard's arsenal; fleet of foot, equipped with the
dribbling ability to lose his marker, and most importantly the confidence to channel it all by
running at defenders.
