My only failure was in not having fresh basil on hand but
dried basil worked, I just added it sooner.
Just wondering... since I don't have any fresh basil on hand, would
dried basil work?

dried herbs de provence, but a mix of oregano, thyme,
basil etc will
work perfectly too!
For a meatball recipe that rolls well with any noodles or zoodles, try mixing ground turkey with an egg or two, spices (
dried oregano or
basil work well), grated Parmesan cheese, minced spinach, and shredded zucchini.

Most recently, Chef Ryan Bloome of Terrain
worked in collaboration and crafted a six - course supper beginning with atuffed squash blossoms featuring roasted summer squash, farro, Farm at Doe Run cheese and
basil pesto followed by herb porchetta, diver scallops and
dry - aged rib eye with roasted chanterelles, mushroom escabeche and sweet onion soubise served in red wine reduction.
The seasoning mix in my cupboard contains celery seeds, dehydrated onion and garlic, and
dried basil and oregano — all ingredients that
work great in this cocktail mix.

I haven't tried using
dried basil in this pesto and I'm not terribly confident about it, but it might
work!
I also season it with
dried basil but if you have fresh that
works too and some chilli flakes but powder or cayenne pepper will have a similar effect.

For the blintzes I put the cup of bay scallops (drained, but not rinsed) in the blender (not in a food processor), added about a teaspoon of fresh
basil, a pinch of salt and pepper, a pinch of
dry fresh thyme leaves (you can add any herb you like I think — maybe even dill would
work — or just parsley or green onion maybe).
