Instead of making a wreath with bulky plastic gourds, try using putka pods, which are natural
dried seed pods that look exactly like tiny pumpkins.
The dried seed pods and wood are used to extract the main compounds of mesquite.
Mesquite meal or flour is made from
the dried seed pods of the mesquite tree, a common tree in the American Southwest.
If you opt for
the dried seed pods — which need to be boiled — make sure that the pod can be easily cracked open, and that the inner pulp is dark brown in color.
