Though our first

In eleven months we've accumulated 24,554 miles and lots of

After starting out
in 1981 chasing the Toyota Cressida as one of the first, large - size, rear - wheel -
drive luxury sedans to arrive

It all starts with the
driving position, which despite the raised ride height gives the sense that you're hunkered low
in the car, helping create an
impression of an instant connection with the tarmac.
First
impressions are positive, with plenty of adjustment
in the steering wheel and seat to adopt the
driving position of your choice.
We'll hold back on delivering a definitive verdict until we've spent more time with the car — during the launch event we

impressions suggest that it'll give the mighty Fiesta ST a run for its money.
It never feels like the sharpest or most detailed of steering racks, though, and the lasting

And so, while
driving the two cars a week apart isn't ideal, we're of the firm belief that given the choice between a full day
in each car on the same roads
in the same weather conditions but not on the same day, or a rushed hour - long rendezvous
in which to grab a few
driving impressions and photos, we'd take the former every time.
«More mature but no less capable» is how we dubbed it

So our TRD Pro convoy would've fit right
in, but almost our entire
drive day occurred off road and out of sight
in Hana, where I found myself blitzing sideways around a hillside dirt «racetrack» doing my best Dukes of Maui
impression; picking my way carefully through a rocky stream bed and walking down a treacherous 41 - degree pumice - stone grade (picture ascending a hill of black gravel that's too steep to walk up, and you've got it), among other hazards.
