In more severe cases, a veterinarian will also prescribe oral anti-fungal
drugs, such as griseofulvin or

In patients with severe neurologic compromise or signs of sepsis, IV antibiotics, such as cefazolin, should be considered for the first 5 to 7 days.3 If fungal disease is confirmed, discospondylitis should be treated with antifungal
drugs, such as fluconazole or
itraconazole.
Other
drug choices are ketoconazole and
itraconazole, although these might not be as effective.
