It is intended to catch any small errors that may have been missed
during copyediting, or introduced during typesetting.
A proofreader only looks for things like inconsistencies in the formatting and other small errors which may have crept in during the production process or missed
during copyediting.
It is not necessary for the referee to identify misspellings, typographical errors or grammatical misconstructions, unless these are technical in nature and might not be picked up
during the copyediting process.
During a copyedit, your editor will correct your spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Not exact matches
Although some
copyediting typically takes place
during a developmental edit, that is not the focus of this type of edit.
If new text was incorporated as part of your revision process, your editor will
copyedit the new material
during this round.
During our developmental,
copyediting, and proofreading process, we will mark up your manuscript using MS Word's Track Changes tool.
Portions of the manuscript may be restructured
during this process, and
copyediting is included.
During each pass, I will also mark
copyediting changes.
