For a Powerlifter, work capacity is highly
specific - there are three major lifts that a Powerlifter will need to perform three
times each
during a meet (with a total competition
period of exertion in the region of 20 - 30 seconds over a 3 - 4 hour meet), so one could think that work capacity is almost irrelevant - yet to maximize training benefit the ability to repeatedly handle near maximal weights with good form and recover adequately
between work sets may be highly desirable.
