"E ink" refers to electronic ink, a special type of display technology used in devices like e-readers. It mimics the appearance of ink on paper by using tiny particles that can be electronically rearranged. It provides a clear, high-contrast and easy-to-read display, like reading words on a physical book page, but on a screen.

But the new generation of
E Ink screens are said to potentially be able to read up to 100 pages without having to refresh the entire screen.
Perhaps the new device will come with a new kind
of E Ink screen tech to go along with the unique size.
Not all Android apps work well because they are designed for Android tablets and phones with LCD screens, not ebook readers
with E Ink screens.
I haven't tried any on a 6 - inch
E Ink ereader in a long time so can't offer any specific suggestions.
For a while, it looked like
E Ink readers were poised to be in the latter category.
But colors will appear more muted
on E Ink displays.
Together with the e-reader device, the project will also launch the first App Store designed specifically
for E Ink devices.
Most of the screens use
E Ink technology which delivers a consistent reading performance even under direct sunlight.
With the shift in management and declining revenues, what does the future of
E Ink hold?
There are any e-readers that
use E Ink displays, and we do not list them all here.
It's interesting just how different the pace of progress has been for
E Ink ebook readers compared to tablets over the past three years.
It has an improved design and it uses newer screen technology
from E Ink for the 6.8 - inch display.
However, the new
color E Ink display, while an important technological breakthrough, is not as sharp and colorful as LCD.
As far
as E Ink ebook readers are concerned, $ 29 is about as cheap as it gets.
The reader says that this is actually the world's first active - matrix
E Ink panel, and is probably the oldest one that still shows an image.
It's a thin, small, 6 - inch device with a sharp
E Ink touchscreen that responds quickly as you swipe between pages or type in a search in the bookstore.
Unfortunately the folks
at E Ink didn't reveal very much new information that hasn't been talked about before.
The paper -
like E Ink display features crisp, clear text that's great for reading anywhere, even in bright sunlight.
This protective coating is designed and supplied
by E Ink themselves as an option to their customers.
Those displays can also be made flat of course - and still it has the advantage of light weight compared to glass
based E Ink displays.
It might even be enough to
make E Ink tablets more of a viable possibility.
Overall e-reader shipments are expected to be flat at a range between 10 million and 15 million units, compared with last year,
E Ink said.
Most
other E Ink browsers are downright painful to use.
Everything that I have been wishing for in an eReader is represented here: a true
HD E Ink screen with front light, fast processor, superior firmware, and a larger display.
E Ink also shows electronic replacements for paper signs which is useful in retail outlets.
The new device has some unique features, most notably it's the
first E Ink ebook reader to have a built - in camera.
It's waterproof, for starters, and boasts one of the
largest E Ink touch screens we've seen.
That said, a
monochrome E Ink display is easier on the eyes for long reading sessions.
The high contrast as well as the
advanced E Ink technology used makes it my ideal companion when reading in bright sunlight or indoors.
However, true tablets will always be more expensive then a dedicated ebook reader, especially ones using black and
white E Ink screens with the sole function of ebook reading.

I think think this is a compelling new product, there are lots of
E Ink products out there such as keyboards, smart clothing, signage, but nothing like this.
While it would be nice to have a 32 - inch secondary
E Ink monitor, these are targeted primarily at the digital signage market.
Plus the screen is made of
E Ink so it uses very little power and can work quite well for long practice sessions.
The Cool - ER's display is based on the
same E Ink technology that several other e-book readers use.
