days, although this does vary) to check out the
e-book before it's
released and available to anyone.
What I am saying is that right now, with the abundance of books and short stories being offered for free through the KDP Select Program on Amazon, you are having to fight to get your just
released e-book into the hands of readers being offered hundreds of freebies every
day.
We chose to

E-book first and then about 100
days later, we
released the print version.

This is not too surprising, since the growth of
e-books is most likely to impact sales of mass - market paperbacks, as MMPs are the least expensive print offering, their
release is delayed after hardcovers (as some publishers do with
e-books), and most closely filled the role that
e-books are starting to fill for people:
day - to -
day fiction reading, as opposed to hardcover cookbooks, graphic books, or bookshelf display items.
There have been a couple of blogposts recently that are worth noting — the first one marks the impending breaking of the $ 1 billion mark for
e-books — posted on James McQuivey's blog — and a related post a few
days earlier on Law Librarian Blog about the
release of 40,000
e-books by Springer without any DRM (Digital Rights Management) restrictions.
