designed to complement, and improve the delivery,
assessment and business of education.
Integrating
assessments as a tool to aid a learner's memory can also be a natural part of the Instructional
Design in an
eLearning course.
These are just the most basic aspects of your
eLearning course
design that deal with content delivery and simple user
assessment tools.
Building blocks of
designing instruction for an
eLearning course entails a thorough «needs
assessment» of the targeted demographic: Learners» goals, concrete understanding of their expectations from the course, likely study environment, ease or comfort level with a variety of technologies, etc..
In order to motivate learners in MOOCs, I would recommend 4 techniques
eLearning professionals could include in their instructional
design, especially for asynchronous learning MOOCs; formative
assessment, progress bars, gamification and badges.
