I'm traditionally not a huge fan
of ear wings, but the soft silicone design was executed quite well.
You can move the slide - to -
fit ear wings up and down to apply pressure to the outer part of your ear.
Ultimately, we found success with the largest foam tips and medium or
small ear wings.
By default, the
medium ear wings and medium silicon gel tips are installed on the earbuds.
Also inside are a panoply of ear tips, including a baggie with Optoma's special black and yellow SpinFit TwinBlade ear gels in three sizes, another with regular neon yellow and neon orange ear gels in three sizes each, and yet another
with ear wings in two sizes.
However, when working out, I prefer SYNC's
ear wings for their comfort and sturdiness.
The retail package includes the two wireless earbuds, a charging case with integrated battery, a microUSB cable, small / medium /
large ear wings, small / medium / large silicon gel earbud tips, and small / medium / large foam ear tips.
You can move the buds» slide - to - fit
ear wings up and down to adjust them to your ears.
Gripping the buds like a choker are «stabilizers,» which lie flush against the side of the buds and take the place of
traditional ear wings.
I was hesitant about the stabilizers at first because I'm used to
ear wings hooking onto the top parts of my outer ear.
These earbuds don't have interchangeable
ear wings like the SMS Audio earbuds do.
But they fit me a little too loosely, which leaves two options: I can try workaround hacks to make them stay in better, or I can
buy ear wings that I'd have to constantly take off and reattach because they don't fit in the charging case.
The winning fit, at least for us, was using the TwinBlade ear gels with a medium -
sized ear wing.
I generally prefer extra security and a tighter fit that
ear wings provide, such as those on the $ 39 Sennheiser CX 685 Adidas Sports earbuds.
The Jabra Elite Sport features Bluetooth 4.1, has a frequency range of 20Hz — 20,000 Hz, music control buttons, and ship with
multi-size ear wings, ear tips, and foam tips.
Erato advertises «360 - degree rotation,» but the tips hardly feel any more pliable or flexible than garden - variety options, and (as mentioned) Erato doesn't ship the Verse
with ear wings or foam tips to improve fit.
Neatly laid out beneath are a selection of accessories, including three sets of ear gels, three sets of foam tips, and three sets
of ear wings, each in large, medium, and small sizes.
However, I did like being able to adjust the slide - to -
fit ear wings on the CX 686G at any time.
Nestling each one into our respective ears didn't feel out of place or cumbersome, though finding the right fit requires plenty of experimentation with the gels, foam tips, and
ear wings.
I found that just the largest pair of memory foam tips with
no ear wings worked perfectly but your mileage may vary.
The green is on
the ear wing and silicon gel tip while the rest of the Elite Sport earbud is gray.
The top curve slides up and down, acting as
the ear wing, and the bottom curve attaches each bud to the cord.
The top curves are
the ear wings, which have a unique «slide - to - fit» construction, and the bottom curve attaches to the cord.
A micro USB charging port is hidden under
the ear wing cover of the right bud.
The buds themselves are shaped in curious rounded rectangles that mimic the contours of your inner ear, along with
an ear wing for more stability.
Additionally, unlike many traditional earbuds that use an interchangeable tip, the SoundSport Free combines a soft silicone sleeve, a silicone tip and a built - in
ear wing to keep them in place in your ear.
The budget price is evidenced by the lack of a carrying case, Comply Foam tips, or
ear wings to further customize the fit.
Without
the ear wings, the BE2 don't have much to anchor to in the ear, which is partly why the SpinFit ear gels are included.
The Elite Sport earbuds come with three sets of ear gels and
ear wings to ensure a secure fit, and their own case that can recharge the earbuds back to full twice.
However, I do prefer having
ear wings, like those of the $ 39 Sennheiser CX 685 Adidas Sport earbuds, simply for the extra security.
As before, there are three sets each of ear gels and Comply Foam tips, plus three
ear wings, in large medium or small.
They felt slightly more secure than the Sol Republic Shadow Wireless ear inserts, but I do prefer having
ear wings or stabilizers, like those on the Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 earbuds, for extra support.
