Hamilton Armstrong, a collector of prints in the early 19th century, was
an early appreciator of the distinctive characteristics of printmaking and amassed a diverse collection of Charles Meryon etchings.
It includes the work of trained artists who were
early appreciators, among them, Charles Sheeler, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Marsden Hartley, Florine Stettheimer and Elie Nadelman.
