Although I don't like to buy things that last only for a short time, these were invaluable in
those early baby days (and if helps Mom sleep, it's worth it!).
Breastfeeding an older child is not calm, serene or peaceful: Unlike
the early baby days, there's not much sitting around feeding while you gaze at them, euphorically.

Depending on when you decide to start your maternity leave, if your
baby is born
early, your leave starts the
day after the birth.
You will be able to see that they are sucking and then swallowing the milk while they are breastfeeding, you will not have any nipple pain after the first initial «ouchy» pain some mums feel in the

The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine [1] recommends that healthy term breastfed
babies need very little per feeding in the
early days — 1/2 ounce or less per feeding in the first 24 hours, and slowly increasing to 1 - 2 ounces per feeding by
day 4.
You are your
baby's first playmate and can provide plenty of stimulation in the
early days.
