Problems with alleged improprieties of the CEO (that's part of a huge story that's blowing up all over entertainment), dead silence from devs (who were gagged), an unannounced
shutdown way
earlier than the announced one (that we only learned about because devs leaked it), and the firing of everyone and shutting down of the company was a blow.
The
shutdown is the latest in a string of embarrassments for BP, which has suffered from a host of safety, environmental and regulatory
problems in recent months, including a large oil spill at Prudhoe Bay
earlier this year [see previous post].
Near the end of 2016, we saw a volley of reports from multiple users claiming their Nexus 6P units were inexplicably entering random bootloops, a
problem seemingly separate from the
early shutdowns that plagued the phone around the same time.
Earlier in November, Apple announced a free battery - replacement program for users experiencing «unexpected
shutdown issues» — suggesting the
problem is hardware - related — but it said the
problem affected only «a very small number of iPhone 6s devices» manufactured from September to October 2015.
Google, similar to the
early shutdown issue, has not been able to provide an acceptable solution to the
problem.
Users have pointed out two major
problems with the Nexus 6P, namely
early shutdowns wherein the device powers off prematurely, and bootloops wherein the smartphone repeatedly restarts without ever fully booting into Android.
