Something So many people who struggle to lose weight don't
eat breakfast to save calories but actually, starting your day
with a good
healthy meal can help some people lose weight.
Granted, we often make bacon to go
with our whole wheat waffles so I'm not going to pretend that when we do
breakfast for dinner it's all about
eating healthy.
While I did come home that afternoon
with a very successful Secret Santa Swap gift of coloured striped straws, we may not want to talk about how much sugar I consumed... Good thing this pie crust and the accompanying filling is nearly
healthy enough to
eat for
breakfast... and morning tea... and dinner... ahem.
So I figured out a way to «cheat» the system (or so I thought) when I first started trying to
eat more plants: I tossed a bunch of produce into the blender, flavored it
with some
healthy items, added some protein, some cocoa powder, and made it into a thick smoothie that was like
eating ice cream for
breakfast!

My girls
eat pretty
healthy breakfasts: eggs, toast, fruit, whole wheat waffles,
healthier cereal... so sometimes I like to treat them
with muffins or a yummy bread.
It's pretty easy to start
eating more blueberries, as they're available year round, and they can be
eaten on their own or
with other berries at
breakfast time, and used in
healthy baked goods for added flavor, color, and texture.
