Don't get me wrong — I love the
more elaborate dishes,
too — but if you're going to sustain a lifestyle of cooking and
eating healthfully, then you need to be able to easily make
vegetables the star of your meal.
Eating treats such as chocolate and ice cream
too early outside the womb can reinforce their preference for sweets, making it
more difficult to introduce bitter foods like
vegetables.
Nevertheless, basic dietary principles are not in dispute:
eat less; move
more;
eat fruits,
vegetables and whole grains; and avoid
too much junk food.
However, new research from Italy suggests that the same technique might be used to nudge preschoolers into
eating more fresh fruit and
vegetables too.
In Somers book titled «I'm
Too Young for This,» she gives numerous basic pieces of advice about living healthy such as
eating more fruits and
vegetables.

If that's the case then I practice it
too, such as
eating at least 4 - 5 hours before bedtime so that the duration of time without food is
more than 12 hours (assuming 8 hours of sleep) plus I have a very light «dinner», a small salad plus
vegetables juicing only.
I'm 140 lbs, 5» 6 ″,
eat about 1,800 cal a day (sometime a little
more, sometimes a little less) split in 5 meals, drink 12 - 16 glasses of water a day, stick to fruits (not
too much b / c of sugar), mostly
vegetables, legumes, lean meats, nuts, egg whites and whey isolate shakes with almond milk.
Eat more vegetables, preferably raw or just slightly cooked as cooking them
too much can make them lose their essential nutrients and the fiber
Eating too many unsaturated
vegetables oils, which are unstable and thus prone to becoming rancid, can create an excess oxidation burden in the body and make your LDL cholesterol
more dangerous.
Plus the large amount of starchy carbs you ingest (insulin spiking starchy carbs
too) triggers cravings for
more carbohydrates later... Personally, I can tell you that when my meals are mostly meat and
vegetables, I'm satisfied fairly quickly and don't need to go back for seconds... but if I try to
eat a plate of pasta, I just can't seem to stop coming back for seconds and thirds and even fourths!
Once I ditched the grains (whole grains, brown rice, oatmeal) and made up for my carbs by
eating more vegetables (and less fruit
too) the weight has started dropping significantly.
There are other examples I could think of when
more veggies are NOT always better, but I just wanted to give you a few important examples in this article, because it's not always the best advice when you hear people say that «you can't
eat too many
vegetables».
Also, I don't restrict my carbs
too much, I mostly
eat about 30 g net carbs (up to about 50 g total carbs mostly from
vegetables), sometimes
more, sometimes less depending on whether I exercise (HIIT), etc..
