I honestly don't know my carb intake...
I eat wholegrain bread a few times a week, plain yogurt every day, and a piece of fruit every day.

Eat plenty of
breads and cereals (preferably
wholegrain), vegetables (including legumes) and fruits.
We are all advised to
eat far too many carbs, whether it is «healthy
wholegrain», sweets, ice cream, «natural» muesli bars, cereals,
bread or potatoes.
That said, it's probably difficult to get a child to get on board with that so just
eating light and healthy woould be good (think
wholegrains rather than white pasta and white
bread or sweetened cereal.
You also have to
eat one slice of
wholegrain bread.
Refined grains and the foods made from them (e.g., white
breads, cookies, pastries, pasta and rice) are now being linked not only to weight gain but to increased risk of insulin resistance (the precursor of type 2 diabetes) and the metabolic syndrome (a strong predictor of both type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease), while
eating more
wholegrain foods is being shown to protect against all these ills.
Fiber slows this process down which is why low GI foods such as
wholegrain breads, pasta, rice, low fat dairy products, sweet potatoes, whole fruits, leafy green vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds should all be
eaten in abundance on the low GI diet.
Choose low GI foods, that release sugar into the blood slowly, to help stay slim so swap the white
bread, rice, pasta etc for
wholegrain and
eat more vegetables, also be careful of certain fruits and fruit juices that are high in sugar.
