The digital
reading space has come a long way from the era in which public libraries had little to offer in the way of
ebooks, digital magazines, or digital newspapers.
Unfortunately, the switch to digital also carries with it a built - in flaw, which is that subscribers expect to
read digital at a lower price — hence a lot of the argument between booksellers and publishers over
ebook pricing — and advertisers expect to pay less for digital ad
space.
Overdrive, the juggernaut of the digital library
space invented their own holiday last year called
Read an
eBook Day.
Considering the relatively small percentage of people who
read more than 12 books / year,
ebooks» primary selling points — portability and
space - saving — aren't all that compelling outside of the conference circuit.
For some, it meant hashtags and author chats in an
ebook, while for others it was pushing their brands into
spaces like Pinterest; in almost every instance, though, there were few answers for what value would be be added to the
reading experiences, and even less attention given to the differences amongst various
reading communities.
You can adjust how small or large it is, and depending on the
reading device or app you use, you can often change font type, font weight, text alignment,
spacing — and with tools like Calibre you can pretty much format an
ebook any way you want if you're determined to do so.
Personally I prefer to
read a real book but when I consider the weight and
space required to take real books with me I have to rely on
ebooks.
When you
read ebooks, you can change the line -
spacing, margins, and fonts.
The large 10.6 inch display really gives you tons of
space to
read newspapers, comics, and
ebooks.
It more or less proves by point that many people
read ebooks, that would take a ton of shelf
space in print form, as throw - away copies in digital form.
RVers probably aren't the only «hidden» population of
eBook buyers — publishers and writers alike would be well served to consider the alternative lifestyles that are embracing the technologies that make
reading — and keeping — a lot of books in a very tiny
space worthwhile.
Now, I have a couple of my own paperbacks on the shelf and mostly
read ebooks — I only tend to buy the ones I really like in paperback now due to lack of
space.
When I contacted the format company again requesting that the white
space, which was in the original manuscript I sent, be added back in, the woman said, «The nature of
ebooks is that white
space is removed, which is something you should be familiar with since you also
read ebooks.

spaces are just as sloppy and disorganized as your real - world bookshelves.

I
read ebooks like CRAZY — I actually prefer them, because they a) don't take up as much
space (although they don't smell as good), b) they're usually less expensive and c) I am not tempted to flip to the end to see how it all ends... (a bad, bad habit).
Non-PDF
eBooks shun hyphens to permit reflowing of the text when type size is changed by the person who is
reading, but it can create some really ugly word
spacing.

ebook reader for me.

In recent years I have noticed that the trend is away from easy access to such high quality content (paywalls, closures, metered
reading, paid apps etc) it doesn't seem to have made a huge impact because rivals keep popping up in the free
space (many for every one site that goes behind a wall of some kind) but the average quality seems just a little lower (in some specific cases much lower) I do wonder if there won't at some point be a better market for paid non-fiction
ebooks (or paid non-fiction content generally) as more of the best stuff resides behind walls of some kind.

Different
ebook reading software might display things differently, and the people
reading often have control over things like
spacing, margins, font - size.
But, I'm slowly leaning more toward
ebooks because of
space issues and because nowdays I'm more likely to
read e than paper.
