Not
so long ago, we told you Sony has brought its latest PRS - T3
eBook reader to the US days before it was scheduled to shut down its North American Reader
Store.
The premise: bought at day one in Europe (october 2012), settings in «standalone» (no reading life, no wifi - i do manual sync -, no cover, no extra SD), I read a lot
so it was very stressed: full charge every week (no problem with battery life), I have + / - 400
ebooks stored on internal SD (1 GB free).
So the price comparison you've done is between the
stores for the
eBook format.
Some of us prefer them in
ebook version simply because they are
so easy to locate, download and
store for future reading and reference.
That's because we have learned a lot about the different quirks of all the different digital book
stores,
so we always start with this generic review copy of your
ebook, but we actually process that file and convert it into a customized version every time we deliver it to one of our partner
stores.
My first
ebook is free right now,
so no loss there, but I sell EE2 and EE3 for $ 4.95 each (although, last I checked, Amazon had price - matched one of those down to $ 3.99 based on some slow - to - update
store out there).
The main limitation is that there just aren't that many free
eBooks in the Amazon
store and most of them are pretty obscure,

It's been a while since I've been engaged in commenting on news stories, but I felt compelled to do
so again after I read this, since I literally just addressed
ebook - only
stores closing in a blog post today.
Ironically, one of the icons of the
ebook world, Amazon.com's Kindle
store, has made it easy and lucrative for these thieves to publish and profit from their activities by the very fact that the Kindle
store is
so simple to use and
so welcoming of self - published authors.

The PRS - 950 remains US - only at this time because of the 3G wireless (Sony's
ebook store is Canada and US - only
so marketing their wireless ereader in other counries doesn't make much sense — you'd think they'd at least sell it to Canada though).

so much simpler to sell readers your own eReader, and ensure your
eBook Store gets a fair chance.
The software between the two models is identical as well, with one exception: the Kobo Aura One supports OverDrive directly
so you can download library
ebooks for free from public libraries through the Kobo
store.
So, imagine my disappointment when the two most highly rated
ebook reading applications in the Android
store — Aldiko and Wordplayer — turned out not to have the ability to copy, paste, or highlight an
ebook.
And an
ebook app is only as good as the content you put into it,
so I want a
store with a massive
ebook selection, and one that's ideally easy to browse from my iOS devices, too.
It is also important to note that many of the
ebook stores online do not have the same security standards as Apple and Amazon,
so its possible your book could be stolen and uploaded to free sharing sites online without your permission.
Now that we have tablets
so tightly integrated into the Amazon and Apple
stores, with
stored credit cards and easy password processes, expecting people to bypass them to buy
ebooks direct from the publisher just seems like more expensive and wasteful manufacturer wishful thinking to me.
