You know that
feeling you get when you walk onto the airplane, right past first
class and into
economy seating?
More importantly the summer season will offer a Premium
Economy option which should be of use to those who hate the ultra-confined
feel of the Dreamliner's
Economy Class cabin (31 ″ of
seat pitch and 17 ″ of
seat width should be illegal) but who also don't wish to pay for Business
Class.
One big advantage that the Dreamliner has is that it offers personal screens for each
Economy Class seat while the antiquated 767 - 300 still inflicts overhead screens on the entire cabin — nice for those who like a retro
feel to their aircraft, not so nice for those who like to travel in a little bit of comfort.
Feeling pretty good about my guess, I confirmed that there were
economy class award
seats available.

I was very impressed with JAL's
economy class — the new Sky Wider
seats feel a lot better than they look in this photo — they are wider than average at 18.5 inches, and offer 34 inches of pitch — roomy by current standards.
It's definitely a big step up from the «
economy plus» type of extra-legroom
seating that most of the U.S. carriers offer, with
seats feeling a lot more like what domestic U.S. airlines have in first
class.
