If you can serve a specific market
like economy travel or exotic places, your business in a niche market can be very successful.
Luxury travel has long been associated with extravagant price tags, however we are seeing a rise in the use of
shared economy travel tools like House Sitting, Camp in My Garden — think Airbnb meets the outdoors, and WithLocals — a platform for locals to offer their own unique tours of their region.
American's off - peak rates to Europe are not just among the best values in the AAdvantage program but also some of the best values
for Economy travel miles in any program has to offer.
In contrast, the rates for flexible economy or higher cabin classes have been upped, e.g.
premium economy travel now earns a minimum of 1,200 points — up from 1,000.
Then, uber travel agent Valerie Ann Wilson and her daughter Kimberly Wilson explain the surge in luxury travel — despite higher price tags — and how even in a shared
economy travel advisors are bringing more value to the table.
The Promo Awards for travel between Europe and Asia aren't exactly the most inspiring and are almost all for
Premium Economy Travel.
Also, business and first class awards cost a LOT of Avios, so we'll focus on
economy travel only.
British Airways Avios are extremely useful for short
haul economy travel with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
Both,
when economy travel was required for business or on personal trips, the GPUs would allow me to upgrade any ticket at a fare class of W or higher to upgrade to Business Class, offering tremendous value!
Alaska recently overhauled its award chart for
domestic economy travel on its own metal, and in a rare win for travelers, actually made the chart more valuable.
For those of you who like to use your miles
for economy travel, without fuel surcharges, and visit Asia this is a good sale.
When you consider the difficulty finding domestic saver award space with the lower price of fares, along with increased earning potential and redemption value of bank points, you have a good reason to spend bank points rather than airline miles on domestic
economy travel.
Combine that with the Citi AT&T card, which offers 3x points on online retail purchases — again, a great return for
economy travel.
In all honesty it will still probably be better value to pay cash rather than use AAdvantage Miles for
Economy travel but, if you're miles rich, there's nothing wrong with keeping your cash in the bank and using miles to pay for an Economy Class seat — if that's your situation maybe one of these awards can save you some miles.
However, the benefits are closer to that of the Reserve cards, offering a companion ticket for
economy travel and spending bonuses to earn extra miles and MQMs.
