Edge: Push / Pull.
Founded in 2006, Girls» Club presents cutting
edge contemporary
art exhibitions, education programs and community events in it's architect - designed
space in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
A Brooks
Art are pleased to announce their participation in Places and
Spaces 2017 part of the curated Folkestone Fringe Festival
Edge: Push / Pull showcasing British artists Sam Nightingale and Rachel Wilberforce with architect David Kitt over the weekend of 28th and 29th October 2017 in Folkestone Kent.
The term came to refer to the work of artists who playfully flirted with Op
art, Minimalism, and geometric abstraction with an emphasis on transcendentalist levity, boundary - dissolving luminescence, and — in place of New York Minimalism's hard -
edged industrial materials — an embrace of cutting -
edge space - age fabrication methods.
LIBRARY STREET COLLECTIVE Library Street Collective specializes in cutting
edge contemporary fine
art with a focus on emerging and established artists who have pushed the boundaries of traditional medium and exhibition
space.
In 2014 they set up two exhibition
spaces,
Art House in Santa Fe and Orange Door in Chicago, where they display the four distinct areas of their collection: Spanish Colonial, Japanese Bamboo, Post-War Painting and Sculpture (notably color field and hard -
edge abstraction), and Digital and Electronic
Art, which is the focus of this article.
Coming off a 25th anniversary year, the 18th Street
Arts Center continues to support the creation of cutting -
edge, contemporary artwork through residencies, which provide artists with the time,
space and financial support to complete an existing project or generate new work before it goes on to theaters or museums.
Its freshly cut cornerstone is the Minnesota Street Project, three converted warehouses at the city's industrial
edge that will comprise the non-profit San Francisco
Arts Education Project, temporary exhibition
spaces, dining from Daniel Patterson Group, and 10 commercial galleries, including vital, younger
spaces like Et al and a number displaced from their original locations by rising rents.
The cozy NEWD
Art Show, on Johnson Avenue, featured the Lower East Side gallery Regina Rex, which displayed several of Hannah Barrett's playfully deviant folk - arty takes on the traditional portrait and still life; Greenpoint's 106 Green, an artist - run
space showing gently noirish figurative paintings by Beijing - raised Xinyi Cheng; and Greenpoint Terminal, offering Eric Shaw's meticulous but sardonically wobbly hard -
edge abstractions.
Since it's inception in 2009 BeatNite has promoted the alternative
art scene, making accessible the
art spaces the promote the truly contemporary and cutting
edge corridors of Brooklyn.
In January 2011 work began on a cutting -
edge building with generous
spaces to showcase its
art holdings and attract more top caliber exhibitions.
In 2014, Michael Rosenfeld Gallery presented our fourth solo exhibition for the artist — Nancy Grossman: The
Edge of Always, Constructions from the 1960s — which was awarded Best Show in a Commercial
Space in New York by the International
Art Critics Association of America.
Recognized as a defining force of the alternative
space movement, MoMA PS1 stands out from other major
arts institutions through its cutting -
edge approach to exhibitions and direct involvement of artists within a scholarly framework.
Since its inception in 2009 BeatNite has promoted the alternative
art scene, making accessible the
art spaces that promote the truly contemporary and cutting
edge corridors of Brooklyn.
Herrera's geometric, hard -
edged abstract paintings, influenced by her university degree in architecture and singularly focused on the interactions of
space and color, prefigure the Op
Art and Minimalism of artists like Ellsworth Kelly, Frank Stella, and Kenneth Noland.
This combination of hard

space, has been shown at
Art Palace in Austin.

Her gallery began life in 1985 in 750 sq ft of
space on Cork Street; it now takes up 17,000 sq ft on the
edge of Hoxton: a metaphor, then, for the trajectory of British
art over the last three decades.
These ideas
edged out nearly 200 other proposals from more than 25 countries in a competition co-organized and presented by The Bronx Museum of the
Arts and Design Trust for Public
Space.
