Edge detection means differentiating the subject from the background and many smartphones fail to do it efficiently.
Xiaomi is leveraging AI - based
edge detection for the front camera, which gives the device a distinct edge in this category.

So, while the iPhone X captures some really good details,
the edge detection is very poor.
Camera quality is excellent, the dual cameras on the back does a really good job, the bokeh effects are pretty good and so is
the edge detection.
The aperture simulation feature has been improved from the implementation on the Huawei P9, offering better
edge detection and more pleasing bokeh effects.
Talking about which,
the edge detection for the Bokeh mode is very soft and overlaps foreground subject with the background.
The Pixel 2's
edge detection is far better than any other camera I've used.
The edge detection is on par with the iPhones with dual cameras, and that's a good a thing.
The edge detection is a bit hit or miss and you can't adjust the level of blur.
