The standard S6 / S7 was a great option for people who wanted a more traditional screen and had no use for the features the S6 /
S7 Edge variants offered.
Still, when compared to the sales of the standard S7, the
curved edge variant was more popular than its counterpart.
This should be an easy decision for most of those deciding between the S6 and the
curved edge variant: can you afford it?
The list does not end there as this year saw Samsung add a curved
edge variant of the Note and named it Galaxy Note Edge.
The Iron Man Galaxy

If this story is true, it will be a GS6
Edge variant with a larger display (around 5.7» inch, as opposed to the 5.1» display found in the original GS6 Edge).

According to the Korea Herald, the company only plans to roll out a curved display, usually found
on Edge variants.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are only differentiated by screen size and design, with the former featuring a 5.1 - inch QHD flat screen as opposed to the 5.5 - inch curved dual -
edge variant found on the S7 Edge.
The device has been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors over the past few weeks, and we even saw supposed images of the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6
Edge variant recently.
But this time around there's not just one flagship from Samsung, but two: the company has released a curved -
display Edge variant that carries mostly the same hardware as its standard flat - screen brother.
The Exynos 8890's LTE modem is particularly efficient, so this Galaxy S7
Edge variant fares quite well.
However, the curved dual -
edge variant borrows almost every aspect of its design from the Galaxy Note 7 as well as the Galaxy S7 Edge.
Recently, famous leaker Evan Blass came in with images of what he thinks are two variants of the Huawei Mate 9 — a flat screen model and a curved dual -
edge variant like what you see with the likes of Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung's latest Unpacked event is just over a week away now and that means we'll soon find out exactly what its Galaxy S6 and
rumoured Edge variant handsets will look like.
The newly leaked photo comes with what is considered the Galaxy Note 7 logo, with further claims that the South Korean tech giant might opt for the curved dual -
edge variant instead of the flat screen version.
There's more incentive than ever to opt for Samsung's more -
premium Edge variant, as the Galaxy S7 Edge takes greater advantage of its curved display.
Like with past Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy S8 is expected to come in standard and deluxe -
sized Edge variants.
We remember when we had the chance to test the Galaxy Round all those years ago; that felt great, and we all know how the Galaxy Note Edge acted as the precursor to the curved
Edge variants of the Galaxy S line that ultimately replaced flat - screen variants of the company's flagships.
These presumably include S8, S8 Edge, Note 7 and Note 7
Edge variants with «2.5 K» display resolution, Super AMOLED and RGB technology, as well as a foldable «Galaxy X» capable of producing 4K video content on a PenTile Diamond matrix screen.
Eligible devices in the US include Galaxy S7 and
S7 Edge variants from Sprint, T - Mobile, and Verizon.
The exciting news (which I did not expect) is the Galaxy Note 4 Edge - the
curved edge variant!
The phones expected to be upgraded include many recent flagship phablets and smartphones in the S and Note series,

Edge variant).
However, be warned that the Galaxy S7
Edge variant being sold at $ 399.99 is locked to AT&T, unlike its counterpart which is unlocked and supports all GSM carriers, including AT&T and T - Mobile.
The clearly visible metal body and curved display suggest that we are looking at
the Edge variant of the Korean giant's next flagship.
There was and possibly still is a bit of confusion regarding the type of display that the upcoming Note will sport, but all major signs and reports indicate that only
an Edge variant will be made available this year.
There's also a chance for Samsung to make the 20MP camera exclusive to
the Edge variant, in order to make the the handset more appealing.
The event started shortly after its scheduled time at 12:30 PM today and the only devices shown were the Galaxy S6 and
its Edge variant, both of which pack an impressive amount of features, spectacular internals and an all - new beautiful design.
It will likely depend on factors like the sensor's price and Samsung's ability to mass produce it in enough quantities; Samsung could make the 20MP camera exclusive to
the Edge variant considering the Edge variant won't be as widely available as the standard Galaxy S6, which would also explain why the Galaxy S6 Edge appeared on benchmarks with a 20MP camera on - board.
The Galaxy S7 series — and especially its curved
edge variant — was the culmination of many years of maturation on Samsung's design, engineering, and software teams, and proved to be among the best smartphones released in 2016.

If you picked up
the Edge variant of the Galaxy S7, you've got a few features not available on the regular phone.
Samsung is yet to formally reveal any details on the Galaxy Note 5 or
its Edge variant.
Apart from
the Edge variant, Samsung is of course, having plans to launch the anticipated Galaxy Note 5 as the successor to the Galaxy Note 4 with S Pen integration.
