Just the other day I had lunch with a
potential editing client who felt getting published — complete with lucrative publishing contract — was more important that writing a great book.
But I can't tell you how many times I've
turned editing clients away because their manuscripts just weren't ready.
I've occasionally turned away
copy editing clients when I thought a copy edit would be a waste of their time — at least, a waste right now.
Because this is the list I share with my
