Nowadays the universal requirement for getting ahead is
education, preferably including a fancy piece of paper which
confers upon you all of the rights and privileges that go with a
degree from a university.
More importantly, HSIs and HBCUs combined awarded over 30 % of all the bachelor's
degrees in
education conferred to blacks, even though they jointly make up less than 10 % of all institutions that
conferred education degrees in 2014.
In 2014, for example, Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
conferred a disproportionate number of
degrees in
education to blacks and Hispanics.
Notably, these
education degrees are
conferred by only 36 % (n = 192) of all MSIs.
Though claiming that 1 in 10 of all undergraduate
education degrees hail from an MSI is a modest assertion, a closer look at the data will demonstrate that MSIs play a critical role in
conferring education degrees to students of color.

confer a sizable portion of
education degrees to students of color.
This new report, produced by the National Center for
Education Statistics, covers six different areas: elementary and secondary enrollment; enrollment in
degree - granting postsecondary institutions; high school graduates;
degrees conferred; elementary and secondary teachers (including the number of teachers in elementary and secondary schools as well as student - teacher ratios and new teacher hires); and expenditures of public elementary and secondary schools.
These included a strong vision of and value for public
education in which almost Finnish children participate as the creator of Finland's future society; resulting high status for the country's teaching profession whose members are stringently selected through rigorous university - based teacher
education programs that
confer Masters
degrees on all of them; a widespread culture of collaboration in curriculum development among teachers in each school district; an equally robust culture of collaboration among all partners in strong local municipalities where most curriculum and other policy decisions are made; and a system of widespread cooperation and trust instead of US - style test - based accountability.
