from both the Gates Foundation and Microsoft pressures states to adopt for - profit

We are a team of communicators and pollsters
from three separate companies who have worked with the
education reform community often over the past decade.
What has become clear is that explicitly focusing on the educational concerns of poor and minority children regardless of where they live, and expanding that to the criminal justice
reform and other the social issues that end up touching (and are touched by) American public
education, is critical, both in helping all children succeed as well as rallying long - terms support for the movement
from the parents and
communities that care for them.

Education Achievement Authority, a soon - to - be-dissolved state - run recovery district for struggling schools — had been identified for closure earlier this year by the Michigan School
Reform Office because they've ranked in the bottom 5 percent academically for three straight years.

Yet this is a pivotal moment not just for Caputo - Pearl and Crenshaw but for a black
community that has been largely absent
from an
education reform movement that hit a milestone last week with the passage in Sacramento of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's bill to gain more control over the school district.
To do so, we began soon after the first round of i3 was complete with a survey of more than 300 people, including i3 applicants and philanthropists, interviewed nearly 50 stakeholders, and also reviewed the extensive set of documents made publicly available by the Department about the process, as well as the relatively limited amount of i3 analysis to date
from the
education reform community and in the media.
It is because of that continued injustice that we are consulting on a range of measures to increase the number of good school places and serve
communities that have yet to benefit fully
from our
education reforms.
But seriously, the crass manner in which the apostles of corporate
education reform have «engaged» parents and teachers
from Connecticut to California demonstrates how little respect they have for the
communities or «children» whom they claim to value.

My skepticism arises
from a number of things including the columnists» lack of evidence or investigation, my own approach to teaching, my research and writing on legal
education (both for scholarship and as chair of our curriculum
reform committee), and what I see my colleagues at the U of C and in the legal ethics
community doing for their students.

As part of the federal welfare
reform of 1996, Congress recognized the need to promote responsible fatherhood as a way to support child wellbeing.2 During the 106th Congress (1999 - 2000), Congress provided funding to the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI), a non-profit organization that works with government agencies, the military, corrections departments, and
community organizations to create fatherhood programs.3 Concurrently, Congress also provided funding to evaluate the Institute for Responsible Fatherhood and Family Revitalization's fatherhood program, signaling the federal government's commitment to researching and assessing the impact of responsible fatherhood programs.4 Although Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama included funding for responsible fatherhood programs in each of their budgets, it was not until the 109th Congress of 2005 - 2006 that the Healthy Marriage Promotion and Responsible Fatherhood (HMPRF) grants program was created and funded under the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 beginning in FY2006 and continuing through FY2010.5 The program was subsequently reauthorized under the Claims Resolution Act of 2010.6 The HMPRF programs support healthy marriage, responsible parenting, and economic stability activities, and are funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration of Children and Families» (ACF) Office of Family Assistance (OFA).7 The HMPRF programs have continued to receive funds through FY2016.8 Healthy Marriage and Relationship
Education grantees, the New Pathways for Fathers and Families grantees, and Responsible Fatherhood Opportunities for Reentry and Mobility (
ReFORM) grantees are currently funded
from FY2015 through FY2020.9
The Commission recommends that the Government take steps to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian Constitution; remove the discriminatory section 25 of the Constitution and replace it with a clause guaranteeing equality before the law;
reform the Native Title Act to address measures that have been found to be racially discriminatory; [19] provide reparations to Indigenous
communities for harm resulting
from past child removal practices; and take measures to protect and promote Indigenous cultural and intellectual property, connection to traditional land through homelands and outstations, as well as the use of increasingly threatened languages, including through support for bilingual
education programs.
